Cimbian UK is not just a ‘box-shifter’. All of the products we supply we support fully and part of this is the design and building of custom interfaces for the CableEye^® range of cable testers.

The types of custom interface supplied cover a huge range from short adaptor cables through the customisable CBs to full systems. It is also worth noting that many CableEye customers also undertake their own customisation using the very powerful software tools from CAMI Research such as Connector Editor and PinMap™ software.

One of the most versatile boards in the CAMI Research CB range, and the starting point for many projects, is the CB8.

Here you, or we, can develop a custom interface that is automatically recognised by the CableEye software, just like the standard boards but with your own connectors fitted.

Connectors can be mounted directly onto the CB8 board, on a mounting plate or a flying lead.

As well as custom CB boards you can also have the system built into a custom rack, again, or do it yourself.

Our Engineering Process: From Concept to Connection

Designing a custom interface requires more than just physical connectivity; it requires signal integrity and long-term durability. We follow a four-stage process to move your non-standard connectors onto the CableEye platform.

1. Requirement Analysis

We evaluate your specific connector types, pin-counts, and electrical requirements (voltage, current, and resistance tolerances). Whether you have a single high-density circular connector or a complex multi-branch harness, we define the mapping before a single track is laid.

2. Schematic & Design

Our UK-based engineering team handles the layout and schematic capture. Where necessary we can design bespoke transition boards that ensure minimal signal loss and maximum mechanical stability, often incorporating mounting holes or enclosures suited to your specific bench setup.

3. UK-Based Assembly & Fabrication

By designing and assembling locally in West Sussex, we significantly reduce lead times compared to international sourcing. We handle the soldering, wiring, and mechanical assembly, ensuring every fixture is built to withstand high-volume production environments.

4. Verification & Mapping

Every custom interface is delivered with a CableEye “Map” file. We test the fixture against its own schematic to ensure 100% wiring accuracy, allowing you to plug in and begin testing your cable assemblies immediately upon delivery.
